This is part of the great art collection put together by Count Alessandro Contini Bonacossi (1878-1955) which was donated to the State in 1969.
The collection comprises 35 paintings including works by Andrea del Castagno, Giovanni Bellini, Savoldo, 12 sculptures, including San Lorenzo by Bernini, 48 pieces of majolica, 11 large Della Robbia coats of arms and 38 pieces of furniture, all of the highest quality, which were chosen by a special committee to integrate the collections of the Florentine museums.
Recently the collection was installed in part of the Uffizi complex built by Vasari.
