Nuova Biblioteca Palatina

Description



This is the Library of the Pitti Palace which was created in 1996 with the books collected in the Documentation Office of the Pitti Palace and with the library of the art historian and former Superintendent, Giuseppe Marchini, donated by his widow, Laura Marchini.

Its holdings, which have been considerably increased by books from the Galleria Palatina and the Galleria d’arte moderna, now number over 2,000 volumes. The Amici di Palazzo Pitti have also contributed numerous donations to the library and a group of volunteers of the Association has undertaken to manage and catalogue the library.

Catalogue

The retroconversion of the Marchini catalogue was begun in 1999 and inserted in the IRIS database. 1200 volumes are now included in the Soprintendenza catalogue, under NBP at http://www.iris.firenze.it/aleph/ita/start.html

Access for art and history scholars and students with letter of introduction, as specified in the regulations.
