From 8 September to 31 October 2012 Palazzo Davanzati hosts the show TRIBUTE TO DAVANZATI – FLOWERS by Tano Pisano, a multifaceted contemporary artist of Sicilian origin who is now permanently settled in Catalonia. Tano Pisano took his diploma at the Istituto d’Arte of Catania in 1964 and then attended the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome where he followed courses held by Montanarini and Mino Maccari. He has already had a number of successful shows in leading art galleries in Italy and the rest of Europe.
The Palazzo Davanzati exhibition, curated by Elena Francalanci, represents an authentic tribute that the artist wishes to make to the Museum and the collections it houses. Tano has indeed brought about an original rereading of the everyday objects that the visitor comes across along the museum itinerary, interpreting them on a modern note in a stimulating dialogue between the works of the past displayed in the palazzo and in the collections of the museum and those created by him for this show.
Tano has dedicated the exhibition to Florentine craftsmen, because the rooms of Palazzo Davanzati are also home to works of exquisite craftsmanship, and because the artists considers himself first and foremost a craftsman, with that same direct knowledge of the artistic techniques that flourished in the ancient workshops. From this aspect, we can read Tano’s show as the homage paid by a living craftsman to his predecessors.
During the exhibition the museum will also be open on Wednesday afternoons up to 19.00
